Introduction to Equine Facilitated Therapy: A study day for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Students

Venue: Herefordshire RDA, Holme Lacy Therapeutic Centre, HR2 6LL

This study day will provide a useful foundation for those who want to do the ACPEA Equine Facilitated Therapy for AHPs course with Ulster University.


  • Gaining an insight into the amazing therapeutic attributes of a horse

  • Using horses to help people with disabilities

  • Assisting an RDA group

  • Updating their skills if they are already working with riders.

This study day will provide a useful foundation for those who want to do the ACPEA Equine Facilitated Therapy for AHPs course with Ulster University.

Date: Saturday 24th September 2022    9am – 4.00pm

Venue: Herefordshire RDA, Holme Lacy Therapeutic Centre, Holme Lacy, HR2 6LL

Programme: The day will consist of theory and watching practical sessions covering an introduction to:

  • The definition of Equine Facilitated Therapy (EFT)

  • The benefits of EFT

  • The shape and movements of a horse and its effect on a rider

  • Mounting and dismounting

  • Scope of practice and opportunities for practice

 

Cost:   ACPEA members and students £20, non-members £40
